Shelby Rushin
Shelby is a media personality who began her radio career at one of South Florida’s Premiere radio stations, 99 Jamz. Over the years, Shelby has interviewed numerous artists, comedians and politicians from near and abroad. Artists like Lionel Richie, Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey and a Miami favorite, Rick Ross, just to name a few.
For 2 years she was Community
Liaison and host of the 99Jamz weekly community radio show “Community Matters,”
where issues that affect South Florida Communities were discussed. With great
compassion for others, Shelby thrives on connecting those who can’t with those
who can. A true Queen.
Shelby has been recognized by
the radio industry and community organizations for her work and dedication as -
Midday Personality of the year, Radio Spotlight in BRE Magazine, “All in The
Family” in R&R magazine, The BET Black Girls Rock Award and she was
recently recognized as an Unsung Hero by the City of Miami Gardens.
Shelby was also nominated and selected by Legacy Magazine as one of South Florida’s most Influential and Prominent Women in Business and Industry for 2017. She is also a 2018 African
American Achievers Nominee and has been featured in Flava Magazine as A Real
Woman of Substance for her dedication to the South Florida Community. She has
also received The Jessie Trice Community Service Award, One Blood Inc. Service
Award and more.
Dedicated to service, Shelby founded SHERO Inc. a non-profit organization created to empower the community through literacy, job readiness and mentoring. A Graduate of Bethune Cookman
University, she is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Inc.
