With each member of Spiritual Pieces having an extensive studio background, it was only a matter of time before vocalists Terry Bolen, Sharon Muslar, Al 'Lafons George and Fatima Lowe met up in 1998 to form their own brand of urban gospel. Influenced by R&B acts such as Yolanda Adams, Karen Clark Sheard, Whitney Houston, Teena Marie and Daryl Cole, Tommy Boy Records saw the light and released their debut Wake Up in 1999.
